Remembering Cliff Burton

When Somewhere in Time Came out, I sent a letter of complaint to Maiden about the use of synth on the album. In the same letter, I suggested they try to get Metallica to open for them that tour. [The Vinny Vincent Invasion actually did :( ] The day after I sent the letter, that bus fell on Cliff. I never got so much as a form letter back from Maiden.

Yeah I was ticked at Maiden also for SIT & taking weak bands on tour with them. They played Spartan Stadium in San Jose with Y&T,Tesla,& Waysted :Puke:
But yeah the week Burton died Motorhead played out here with Megadeth & the Cro-mags.Mustaine asked for a moment of silence & dedicated the song "Chosen Ones" to Cliff. The Metallica guys were in attendance that night & Lemmy invited them on stage but they declined.

OT but full props to Steve bringing Waysted out on tour. Pete Way was one of Steve's big influences and what better way to honor your influence than by bringing them on the road with you to get exposure.

Heh...back in 1986,I thought the same thing too.I hated SIT,because I thought keyboards has nothing to do with metal. What's weird,is how someone's musical taste gets different with age. When I was 13,I hated SIT.Nowadays, when I'm 33,I love it,as a matter of fact it's one of my top 5 Maiden album!

Back to topic:R.I.P. Cliff Burton. He was the best bass-player in the world, and I'm sure he was a great guy and probably the main pillar in Metallica,'cos look what happened with the others after he died!

Check out the Cliff 'em All video if you haven't seen it. :kickass:

I love Cliff 'Em All!!! My favourite part is when Lars is talking to the camera and Black Night starts playing on the radio/tv/whatever and he stops mid sentence to start air drumming. Makes me laugh every time. That and the bit where they all freeze and get rearranged by someone (can't remember who). Great dvd!!!

Here's to the major rager on the four string motherfucker!!!!!!!!! :kickass: :notworthy
