A report at Cleveland.com says that PEARL JAM is heavily favored to be nominated for the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame's Class of 2017. According to The Pulse Of Radio, this year's nominees are scheduled to be announced at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday morning (October 18). This year's newly eligible acts include PJ Harvey, Alanis Morissette and Tupac Shakur, while previous nominees who may be considered again include NINE INCH NAILS, THE SMITHS, THE CARS, Sting, KRAFTWERK, YES, CHIC, Janet Jackson and THE SPINNERS. The final list of inductees will be chosen and announced in December and the 2017 Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction ceremony will take place in April. PEARL JAM guitarist Mike McCready was asked at the 2013 ceremony about his band's chances. "You know, you never want to place any bets on anything," he said. "I'm not a gambler, so I'm not going to try to put any odds on that. But I don't know. I hope so. But you never know. You never know what happens. It could take a while." If inducted, PEARL JAM would be the second of the seminal Seattle "grunge" acts — after NIRVANA — to enter the Hall. Two others, SOUNDGARDEN and ALICE IN CHAINS, are also both eligible for induction. Those nominated will be voted on by living members of the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame along with a voting group comprised of historians, journalists and critics.
