Requiem Laus - Promo 2006

Aha! Here is a nice little package called Promo 2006 from Requiem Laus! It's good to hear at least someone is still doing the epic death metal thing. There is one guitar in the left speaker, and another guitar in the right speaker. They are each playing seperate parts, accompanied by a chuggy bass in the bottom middle, and fantastic death grunts in the center as well. In other words, a perfect mix!
There are only 5 tracks to Promo 2006, but Requiem Laus's skills are displayed pretty thoroughly within the short length of time. The second track, 'Final Function', even displays an amazing bit of middle-eastern style musical influence! Even though the music is very epic, it inevitably drifts towards repetition and becomes a bit boring. Sure, the leads and solos are fantastic throughout this short little epic, but there needs to be a bit more to each song. Maybe some more hooks, some changes....
Requiem Laus definitely shows a ton of potential, and they could become the next big thing in epic death, who knows! But for right now with the arrival of Promo 2006, they really haven't quite reached the mark. The musicianship and a lot of the content is fantastic, but it is really not so memorable. You hear that guys? You've still got some work to do! Still, it's better than a lot of stuff coming out now.
