RESPAWN INC. -Stone Cold World- Free Album Download!!!!

Hey fabz, Cool tunes. Sounds very Machine Head influenced and at times the vocals remind me of Celtic Frost and Coroner.
Is that a 5150 I hear? Mapex blended with samples? Details please.
(Free Album Download email sent!)

Hi!

Thanks for the kind words! I love machine head! So we're a little influenced by them! You're right!

Now here are some production Details:

We used 3 guitars on that one: Left Side was LTD Mustaine Signature with HZ Pickups, Right Side was Gibson Les Paul Standard with Emg 81. We doubled every side with a LTD Eclipse loaded with HZ Pickups. Panned 100% left/right and 80% left/right

We used a Boss OS-2 in front of my Randall RH50t amp into a oooooold Marshall V30 cab. The cab was miked with 1 SM57 straight into the M-Audio FW 1814. (Sneap technique!)

Bass was a damn heavy Ibanez BTB 6 Stringer. We split the signal and recorded 1 Track of a Ampeg Billy Sheehan Preamp (for overdrive) and 1 track of a Hughes and Kettner Bassforce XXL with a AKG D112 mic. blended that and compressed the hell out of the clean amp track

Drums were Pearl Export (the one with all black hardware), Standard EX Snare
Triggered with Aptrigga. Bassdrum replaced 100%, Snare replaced 50%, Toms replaced 80%. I believe i used the Bodom Kick and another sample , Snare was a combination of 3 Samples (Original, a lil' sneap, and a piccallo snare sample i had laying around)
Toms (i can't remember which samples i used on toms).

Vocals we're recorded with a Rode NT1a into a Vocalmax Channelstrip.
Some overdubs were done with a sennheiser E904.

I recorded, edited and mixed it in Pro Tools M-Powered.
I used the stock plugins and some freeware (Nomad bundle, Kjaerhus Classic Bundle).

That's all i can remember right now...

So, guys don't be shy! send me an email and i'll provide you with the link! It's a freebie so don't hesitate! ;) Response has been awesome so far!

Awesome details there fabz. I got the free download and am really lovin' it. Great job!!!

Thanks man! Thanks!

We really didn't use any High End Gear just the bread and butter stuff every semi-serious-musician can afford. I think it sounds really good but still has that DIY-Underground Vibe to it. The response we got was awesome so far. Still one week left for people to download it!:rock::rock::rock:

But i realy would love to hearmore comments from the guys of this forum!

I agree and I don't feel like thats a bad thing either.

You're missing out people. I know there are a bunch of Machine Head lovers here. Chances are very good that you'll dig this too.

Fabz, maybe instead of the thread title, "RESPAWN INC. -Stone Cold World- Free Album Download!!!!" you should have called it:
"Free Album Download/Machine Head style"
Trying to help you out. :)

Yeah man! you're right! lol! I guess that would have made it more interesting...
And maybe i posted it in the wrong section...

To make it easier for the forum members: Just reply in this thread i'll send you the link then via PM!

Just downloaded, and listening to the first few songs, I'm not keen on the vocal style (maybe it's just because it sounds a wee bit muffled to me, and that snare seems a little un-dynamic, but otherwise man, it sounds pretty nice.

I always mix my vocals too quiet... :( and try to hide behind the guitars... Next time i will put them more up front! :)

I think this a perfect example of how with effort, a pretty damn smoking mix can be achieved with budget hardware/software.

Edit: One more criticism (well it's nitpicking really), I think the drums (especiallly the snare) are too dry. I think the mix would merge together better, with a little more verb on the drums.

Yeah... i guess you're right...

The "Reverb-Thing"... our drummer told me that the drums are too dry, but i always thought, "He's a drummer, come on what does he know?" LOL

Next time we're goin to post more work in progress stuff and i try my drummers suggestions at least
...
Did i mention that this was mixed on some old Hifi Monitors...

Haha, it's cool man......drummers sometimes know what they're on about. Well done overall though dude, I hear inspiration from some great bands in your music. Keep it up :)
