Revisiting Orpheus (my take on melodeath)

Verb would've been solely the Lexicon PCM Native. For a band like this I'd probably have used Vintage Plate on the snare and possibly chamber/hall on the guitars. I can't remember for sure. I always pick and choose in a mix-dependent way. Bear in mind a huge part of the snare decay is the room sound.

@AndrewB: I think that may be a little beyond the scope of this conversation, haha. I do have a fairly substantial bass mixing chapter coming up in the Systematic mixing guide, though. The grit is basically just shaped fret/string noise, slightly driven. The distortion is outright gain that's melding the bass with the guitars in the mids.
