According to the Dallas Observer, RIGOR MORTIS and WARBEAST singer Bruce Corbitt was scheduled to undergo heart surgery yesterday (Monday, August 10) after experiencing two heart complications in less than five days last week. The 52-year-old Dallas native was told by doctors that he would need heart surgery after finding that his heart was misfiring."It became very evident that I can't live a normal life anymore without doing the surgery, without fixing the problems," Coribtt said. "It's not fair to me, my wife, my family and my band to have to worry. It's no way to live: 'Oh we can't go out of town without worrying about his heart messing up.' Nah, it's worth the risk of surgery to live a normal life again. I feel like a walking time bomb."Corbitt has reportedly already spent nearly $50,000 on the medical costs associated with his heart failure and a YouCaring page has been launched seeking to raise money to help with his medical expenses. "Bruce has been there to help so many of us, and as a proud man, he will not ask for himself," the page says. "So let's all support him and donate."According to Corbitt, Obamacare had forced him to get health insurance, but it only covers a portion of the expenses. "I just thought about the bills and my wife and my family and what they're going through to help me pay some of these bills," he says. "I thought I would be smart and not be stubborn."RIGOR MORTIS guitarist Mike Scaccia, who also played with MINISTRY and the REVOLTING COCKS, died on December 23, 2012 of a sudden heart attack brought on by a heart disease (official cause of death: atherosclerotic and hypertensive heart disease), according to the Tarrant County medical examiner's office. Officials ruled it a natural death. He was 47 years old.A benefit concert for Corbitt wil be held on Saturday, October 17 at The Rail Club in Fort Worth, Texas. Appearing on the bill will be RABID FLESH EATERS, CREEPER TEXAS METAL and WIZARDS OF GORE (a.k.a. RIGOR MORTIS without Scaccia).
