Hi everyone - hoping to gain some perspective on prog rock solo tones.
Been working w/ RIII for awhile now - tweaked it to death. This is a JSX patch w/ Harley Benton ala sneap cab. Used a compressor before the delay, and a notch at 140. Recorded in Sonar 6 w/ a UAD 1073. Please excuse for the timing, and out of tune bends - haven't played this one for a loooong time...Whacha think? Thanks - Shep

Hey Shep, welcome to the sneapies mate. Same shep from SS forums? The tone is not bad at all, quite impressive. I should add, cool playing too. I have heard better vai tones exclusively from a Pod xt though from jemsiters though, if you are going exclusively vai here. Let me see what i can dig out..

Oh snap, Kev is definitely the man you want helping you out with the Vai sound, I think he's quite possibly a bigger Vai fan than I am. :)

DAMN, nice playing Kev! Incredibly expressive, I love it! Way too many people are focused on their tight rhythm playing and blah di blah, it's nice to hear someone else interested in lead work!

Oh, and Jshep, I can't get yours to play - it just says "done" in the bottom-left corner of Firefox, implying that there's no loading going on or anything. Maybe if you converted it to mp3 and put it on soundclick you'd (or rather, I'd) have an easier time... ;)

Really nice cover Kev! :kickass::rock::kickass::rock: I'm doin' good man, yourself?

Edit: Listened to your cover again, fucking awesome job. Vai would be proud, man. That is all.

Very nice Kev. Is that an amp too, reamp, or just Revalver Mk III, or podxt? I'd like the patch and an idea of the chain from your input - thanks for your help. oh yeah, same from SS forum - having fun w/ the kits?

Sounds great Kev. I'd love to see the patch. Now if i could find a good patch for the Rhythm sound on Bad Horsie I'd be set!

Can anyone give some advice on what I might tweak to improve the sound I'm getting? Any Revalver III people come up with a good preset for this tone? Thanks - Shep
