rim clamp 421

has anyone ever built a rim clamp for the md421?
I know, it would be difficult since the mic is so long, but it should be possible

Not sure about putting a heav weight mic such as the 421 on a rim though....gotta try it

I've used these before with a 421.
Edit: You beat me to it. Yes, they work.

Rim mounting drum mics is a really bad idea.
The mic picks up the vibration from the hit a few milliseconds before the diaphragm picks up the sound wave, greatly smearing the attack of the sound.

OK for live due to not needing stands for each drum but I would never use rim mounts for recording.

I've used the Shure ones before with them and they work fine.

I've heard many times people say not to mount mics on the rim, but I've never had a problem with the Sennheiser e604s mounted to the rims of toms. *shrug*

Somebody PLEASE design a right-angle MD421, a la the Granelli Labs 57. It would solve so many of the positioning problems people have with the MD421.
