Just got back from work and heard the news.
Respect due to a huge influence on the world of 'Quality' music.
If it wasn't for JP, We would have been deprived of many, many great musical experiences.

I can't say that I was into a lot of the things he played, but at least he played proper music. He 'kept it real' as they say.

I obviously never got to hear him on the air firsthand, since I live in the States. We never got much BBC programming, except some of their news on NPR. But I've heard John Peel introducing bands on live albums, and I have Thin Lizzy's "Peel Sessions" album recorded by him. Seemed like a good, no-bs radio personality. Sadly missed.
