He's never been a great drummer in my eyes, but nevertheless what a pity it is that he's dead. He was just 54. He's now being touted as 'legendary'. To me, he has never been a legend and his death does not alter that. Anyways, a sad day for sure. No Pantera reunion shows for sure.

RIP. They were killer in their day and Vinnie was a great drummer.
98 was around the time I saw them live, they were on fire.

Sad to hear this. Local news reported he was a Las Vegas resident. I saw him at shitty, locals casino 8-10 years ago in the audience of a local band playing covers of classic rock tunes. He had an entourage of 4-5 big security guys with him which makes sense given what happened to his brother.

If you deny that Pantera is 'legendary', you dont understand what it means to be 'legendary'

They're not legendary in my eyes. An overrated band for sure. But still, they have some enjoyable tunes to listen to. And even if you're a sucker for their music, you must admit that the drummer was the weakest link in their line-up.

Rex Rocker tbh

RIP...Vince invented click-drumming, he’d tape old credit cards to his bass heads to make the cool clicking sounds (13 steps)...by modern blast drumming “standards” (everyone a rank and file) he might be “boring” but he was definitely a key to Pantera’s sound and lots of drummers borrowed his techniques Rex was also pivotal...Rex has always been a guitar player and played bass just to fill a hole but has a cool style IMO. Power Metal, Vulger, Far Beyond and Trendkill all had killer songs. I am glad I don’t have to worry about a jacked-off reunion now...

I met VP at a strip club in Peoria. He thought I was wearing a Witchfinder General shirt. He had like 5 strippers around him at all times but he stayed sitting at the bar the whole time.

I thought he was nice.
