Anyone hear of a band called Rival, based out of Chicago. they were signed to metalblade i believe almost 3 years ago and put out a hell of a cd, State of Mind. IMO they are badass...thoughts opinions?

I've got an EP (I think it's an EP) from them. I'm from the Chicago area, and I never even knew they existed. One night while partying with some old rockers up in WI, I ran into a guy whom a friend and I were trying to introduce to some of the newer metal stuff, like Gamma Ray & Primal Fear. This guy was just stuck on Rival. "those guys may be good, but they're no Rival!" Was that you? 
Anyway, this kind of became an inside joke between my friend & I, and I was at a cd store and saw a Rival cd in a used bin for like $2. I bought it with the intention of giving it to him as a gag gift, but I checked it out at home & deided to keep it! It wasn't bad at all.....

Sixxswine got into this band (once again thanks a lot R !) and the album simply kick ass. Most excelent heavy metal lots of classic influence and yet a modern (in the ethymologycal sense of the word) vibe which makes the music totally dated.
Highly recommended.
