Heya, have any of you guys used either the Roland V Pro Td-12 or Td-20 kits in a recording before? Any info on how it was to mix?

Thanks :)

I'm assuming you're speaking about the actual samples in the module itself(which I haven't used on a recording), not using the kit to trigger and record MIDI(which I have done). Even though I haven't actually used the samples, my experience with them hasn't been that great. They sound pretty decent by themselves, but always end up being too reverby(and not in a cool, room-y kind of way) and overall fake sounding. Great for playing live, but not good for tracking. Why not just track the MIDI and use that to trigger DFH, BFD, Battery, or something like them? That way, not only are you getting better sounds than you would with the TD-12 and 20 systems, you'd also be able to edit the parts, if need be.

hello,
yeah i used some digital drums on recordings (i am a drummer by the way)
but not the td12
i used the td10 just send them all out (individually in groups all panned) through
groups mine had 8 i think the new module has more outputs and even digital ones too
oh yeah turn of the eq and effects on All tracks use compression and effects later in the mix ...
