Rush - Vapor Trails!

Ive never heard any Rush, except when Skid Row covered a song of theirs (was good too!) Whats their most rocky/heavy album?

Just a note: the page I listed above has been forced down by Rush Management, but it is available elsewhere.

If you rlooking for a great place to start listening to Rush, check out Working Man. Its a Rush tribute on the Magna Carta album. Its got a great selection of Rush songs and their played by people including: Mike Portnoy, James LaBrie, John Petrucci (all of DT), Billy Sheehan, Sabastian Bach, Fates Warning, James Murphy, Devin Townsend, Steve Morse, Stu Hamm, and heaps more.

I think its better than the real thing.

"2112" is a classic, as is "Moving Pictures", as is any of their stuff from the 80s, as is any of their stuff from the 90s... and their stuff from the 70s is great as well!

If you're after heavy stuff, then may I recommend "Counterparts", which was released in 1993. Awesome album, and probably their heaviest in my opinion. "Test For Echo", their last studio album, is also excellent. They're not metal, though, so don't go expecting any. People said they were Led Zeppelin clones after their first album, but after that they were unfortunately labelled as being 'prog', which isn't correct in my opinion. They're a ROCK band, damn it!

Trivia note - after The Beatles, the Rolling Stones and Kiss, Rush have the most Gold albums in the US of A. :) And *still* most people haven't heard of em!

Anyway, all of their stuff is cool, but I'm not as fond of the following albums: "Caress of Steel", "Hemispheres", "Signals" and "Presto". Everything else rules, and if you're after an excellent album with excellent lyrics, get "Hold Your Fire".

Oh, one more thing - the singer, Geddy Lee, has a bit of a high voice. Think Mark Slaughter with his boys in a vice and you're halfway there ;) He's very good, though, and one of the best bass players in the world, if not the best.

As long as he doesnt sound like King Diamond its ok
I may just look into this band....

Spawn, start off with Retrospective Vol I and II (1974-80 and 1981-87). If you like what you hear, get 2112 and All the World's A Stage- one of the best live albums ever IMHO.

I'm afraid I'm a bit out of touch as far as Rush is concerned. Haven't heard anything since Hold Your Fire, so what am I missing?

Shall do, best ofs are probably the best way to get into a new band now that I think about it....

They're more straight-forward rock since "Hold Your Fire". Not as synthy. Actually, Spawny, get "Different Stages", their awesome live album from the last tour. 3 discs - two of the tour, one of a gig from the late 70s. Great stuff!

The two Retrospective CDs are good, so get them as well.

Is One Little Victory the new single?
If so, it sounds cool. Although a definate 70's rock vibe.

Geddy's voice isn't nearly as bad as I've heard it described.

You fool, Spawny.

I don't care much for Vapor Trails. After waiting five years or so for a new album it is a real disappointment. Of course, there are understandable reasons for the long wait, and it's great that they didn't break up, but still...

I was caught out too - wondering why there was such a fuss about the CD being available for download after almost a year of it being released. :)

Hey rebecah, you dont happen to have black hair, work at some kind of gym and used to catch a bus to work every Tuesday and Thursday?
