Rush

Rush rule. I can't listen to too much of their stuff these days because I overdosed on them in the late 90s. Most of their albums are awesome. Their 80s albums have a lot of filler, though.

I was going through some records to take to the second hand store that an American friend had left here, and found Permanent Waves and Moving Pictures! :headbang:

Sweet, it rocks when people leave second hand stores at your house! :headbang:

I find their 80's album to be awesome.

Hold Your Fire is excellent, probably my favourite Rush album, and there are plenty of songs on the other albums which are great, but also plenty which do nothing for me. Most of stuff on Power Windows, for example, and several songs on Signals and Grace Under Pressure. Permanent Waves and Moving Pictures both rule though.

The Rush In Rio DVD is unreal. Im also looking forward to R:30 dvd.

Yeah, Rush in Rio is the greatest live DVD ever.

Almost bought R30 on the weekend but it was a bit out of my price range. Shall wait til it's at a more reasonable price.

Farewell To Kings and Hemispheres. Get them both together or the Cygnus story won't make any sense.

I want to get Fly By Night and Permanent Waves sometime. Must also try out some of their more recent (90s) albums.

I've never even listened to the lyrics to see what the Cygnus story is about. Heh.

With regards to 90s albums, definitely get Counterparts and Test For Echo. Their sound after Moving Pictures changed quite a bit for a few albums, but after Hold Your Fire they sort of combined their two styles. More of a straightforward rock sound, without heavy synths, but no more 10 minute prog songs (which they haven't done since Permanent Waves anyway, unless I'm forgetting one).

You won't go wrong with any of the 70s albums, so go crazy with them.
