RUSH guitarist Alex Lifeson is working on a new project with Marco Minnemann. THE ARISTOCRATS drummer, who has also been associated with DREAM THEATER, Steven Wilson and Joe Satriani, revealed the news on Facebook along with an illustration of the pair by Tom Colbie. Minnemann says: "Working on a new collaborative release together with RUSH's Alex Lifeson. Watch this space for more details to follow soon." The 47-year-old drummer and Lifeson previously worked together on Minnemann's 2017 album "Borrego", which also featured a guest appearance by Joe Satriani. Lifeson said last month that he still has "a lot of fun playing music. I work with a lot of different people now — very, very different things; a great variety — so that's what's really important to me," he said. RUSH bassist/vocalist Geddy Lee recently confirmed that the band is unlikely to play any more shows or make new music. On November 16, UMe/Anthem/ole label group will continue its extensive RUSH 40th-anniversary album series with a new, expanded edition of the band's groundbreaking 1978 release "Hemispheres". Minnemann is looked upon by his peers as one of the most gifted, innovative, cutting-edge drummers on the international music scene today. He has won numerous awards for his educational drum books and videos and was featured on the cover of the world's top drum magazine, Modern Drummer.
