Russell Allen guest vocalist on Iced Earth cover of Highwayman

Iced Earth did a cover of the country classic Highwayman, originally featuring the voices of Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson, Waylon Jennings and Johnny Cash. This version features Russell Allen and Michael Poulsen from Volbeat.

And if I can be quaint, its probably the best song on the album. This album wasn't that good. Lots of recycled melodies and rhythms from previous albums and boring lyrics all around.

I like Russell here, but don't particularly care for the cover. A couple of those guys are just doing too much stuff with their voices. Whatever.

The album definitely isn't anything to write home about (then again, which one since Burnt Offerings has been?), but I do think Democide, Among the Living Dead, The End, Cthulhu, and Peacemaker are all pretty solid, and some of the other songs have their moments.

It's a decent cover. I've only heard 2 other songs on the album, and probably won't bother with the rest. I have a friend who thinks it's another masterpiece, but he tends to overhype a lot of stuff.

The new album is pretty decent if you enjoyed Dystopia. IE certainly isn't breaking down new barriers or anything in metal anymore but it's fun enough music to get work done along with (the majority of my personal needs anyway).

I was pretty hyped about Dystopia when it first came out. There are maybe 2 or 3 tracks I ended up liking from it, but I did overplay the album. idk I might listen to this new one at some point, but I'm interested in other things for now

They had a powerful magic to them for the first three albums. Then that magic went away and they've released very little in terms of worthwhile material since. So, mostly for that reason,

First three are certainly their most impressive works but I can cherry pick a few songs from Dark Saga and then the Somthing Wicked trilogy at the end of that album that I think are on par with the first three albums. Everything after that is fairly standard metal fare I agree and in some cases even atrocious.
