Uh, Mikael isn't using effects on his voice. WHy would he do that? He''s an amazing vocalist anyway, and Deliverance is his worst vocal performance to date, no doubt. He sounds scratchy and weak a lot of the time. Closer to what he does with Bloodbath, but just not as successful.

The music.....blah. Things are definately going downhill!

His clean vocals are softer and more backgroundy on Deliverance, I guess you could say weaker, but I wouldn't. Just...more subdued.

His growl...well, its still the same monster it once was.

The music on Deliverance...its good, not wildly groundbreaking for Opeth but then again, its still good, classic sounding Opeth. I like it. The much dryer production is a slight minus though, cos the guitars sound a bit thin, but there is many fine riffs.

Overall, I think its a great CD.

Opeth's strong point has never been groundbreaking or technical when it comes to the music. They're excellent songwriters. Mikael should focus on Bloodbath more...that would rule.

I think Deliverance is a fucking excellent album, and maybe my 2nd favorite Opeth album (#1 being Blackwater Park)... I'm also looking forward to Damnation. The accoustic/experimental album should be... interesting... and definately killer...
