Frankly, I don't know why we're not teaching history in schools like this. Youtube Direct allows for 1080p viewing, and it's beautiful cinematography. Good stuff right here. Wouldn't have been my choice for video off the album, but well done.

Probably because:

a) Not to generalize, but history is poorly taught in American schools. In fact, you'd be amazed how much certain schools choose NOT to teach certain things based on a variety of reasons. In other words, if you go to a private Catholic school, chances are your European medieval history teachings will be slightly different than from a kid who goes to public school, or schools in other countries.

b) Metal is evil, you forget?

Probably because if history were taught with any passion in schools in America the students might learn something. Almost all primary education history is a painful whitewash anyway. Like Milton said, very selective teaching.

When it comes to history, most of what people refer to as "education" is nothing of the sort. However, I have to give credit to my 9th grade history teacher, without whom I may never have gotten into metal. Once day, when we were just about done with a unit on ancient Greece, he wheels this big stereo into the room, and plays Iron Maiden - "Alexander The Great" at high volume (to the point where teachers in adjoining rooms were annoyed). This had a pretty big effect on me, as I'd never been much of a music fan before that, and (obviously, since I'm here!) got into music pretty heavily afterwards.

This can not be completely blamed on the teachers. Being a History teacher I can tell you that anytime budge cuts are needed History is the first place they pull from (that is why I am a manager at walmart now instead of a teacher). So this leaves the only History teacher as the relatives of the Principal and the football coach* (generalized statement most of the best and most passionate teachers are also coaches) And a large portion of the lessons are mandated by the state so you are only really given a certain amount of time. Another example of how much they dont care about History, I had to use one day a week to teach technology instead of History.

PS I used Iced Earth's Gettysburg in my lesson, when I find another job I will def be using some Sabaton.
