OK so here goes the story.

I have never heard of Salem's Wych before some weeks ago. A mate in another forum warned about a contest the band was helding on their website http://www.salemswych.com. It was the opportunity of winning their only album from 1986, I didn't won but I get the second prize (a great t-shirt to be wear soon at the Hammerfall concert).

Not only that but Mark Gast the guitar player sent me their new single to be played in Metal Radio. He sent the CD and a personnal letter, which is damn cool. The song is called 'Blasphemy' and is pure Old School, very good vocals, nor sweetended, nor growly. The guitar work is concise, simple and effective. Nice pounding riff all along and I'm sure that anyone here that could listen to it will agree.

If anyone have the chance to catch the single please check it, their album will follow up soon and I'm sure it'll be another good release for 2005.

WHAT!? They're actually BACK?
Whooooooohooo. That's great! Betrayer of Kings is fuckign awesome. And I only have 4 mp3s! Groove sounds like breezers but they've got the groove damnit. Ah I need the new album. Which label will release it? We should praise all the new oldschool metal :D

First I want to welcome StormSpell to the UMOS family he's the one who introduced me to Salem's Wych and I'm very thankful to him.

Second, yes Grif they're a working and as much as I wanted that debut from 1986 it seems the band hasn't lost a bit of class.

From their site:

The new metal single "Blasphemy" has drawn rave reviews from radio and fans alike. "Blasphemy" from the forthcoming "Through All Eternity" has been compared to old Metallica, Megadeth and Pantera. The band members are very pleased with the response, stating that while they are just trying to be Salem's Wych, comparisons to some of the best metal bands of all time is a huge compliment.

From what I hear I will not compare them to Pantera (much, much, much better), the song is definitively more agressive than most Megadeth material and would be comparable to some Metallica debut songs. IMO their music is more like Pariah but with a heavier attitude mix undoubtely with old speed metal from US.

Supposedly it is running already boyh in US and Europe on metal radio. Those who want to lost time on radio can ask for the single.

ah I'm glad you mentioned it's not like Pantera (one of the few bands I don't like. well, the post Power Metal albums anyway..)
Maybe I can try to get one for a review

According their website:
"The record label Metal War Records, who originally released Salem's Wych "Betrayer of Kings" album, has been purchased by Mark Gast of the band Salem's Wych. In the disclosed agreement, Mark Gast of Salem's Wych would hold all rights to the label name and imprint, as well as retain all rights and publishing to the lables back catalog.'

So I'd hope he will develope the label and will release the new album under its moniker, aswell as re-relase the old stuff too!

I got the Greek hot metal bootleg of Betrayer of Kings from a trade (before knowing it is a boot) and it is decent album - not the best by any standards, but still enjoyable.
