SALIVA guitarist Wayne Swinny has revealed that he has been in talks with the band's original frontman Josey Scott "for a few months now" about teaming up for a possible reunion tour in 2020. The singer left SALIVA at the end of 2011 after 15 years with the band, reportedly to pursue a solo Christian music career. He was quickly replaced by Bobby Amaru, who can be heard on SALIVA's last four releases: "In It To Win It" (2013), "Rise Up" (2014), "Love, Lies & Therapy" (2016) and "10 Lives" (2018). Scott broke the news of his return to SALIVA earlier this week during an appearance on "The Morning Dump", a podcast hosted by "The Big Mad Morning Show" in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The next day, Swinny and Amaru spoke to Meltdown of Detroit's WRIF radio station and addressed SALIVA's plans for the rest of 2019 and into 2020. Swinny said: "[Josey and I have] been chatting back and forth for a few months now. As soon as we started talking, I [told] Bobby, 'Look, man, there's a possibility we're gonna do this. I don't know when. I don't know the timeline.' And to tell the truth, Bobby knew the 20-year anniversary [of the 'Every Six Seconds' record] was coming up before I did. And before any of this even came up, [Bobby] was, like, 'Look, bro, if you're all gonna do some reunion stuff, it's totally cool. No sweat.' And then literally maybe a month or two after that, [Josey and I] started talking back and forth." According to Wayne, the SALIVA reunion will "probably" launch "later on in 2020." He said: "The first record came out in 2001, so this would fall somewhere in us doing a 20-year reunion thing, which would be not 2020 but 2021. But what's happened is there's been text messages and we started talking. And everybody's excited — Josey's excited, I'm excited — everybody's pumped up. Josey, I guess he couldn't hold it in anymore. I don't blame him. It's been a long time." Swinny said that he "never knew" if the reunion with Josey was going to happen. "But we've been on great terms — actually, all the ex-members; I'm still friends with everybody," he explained. "We text and talk and send each other Christmas high-fives and stuff. We've all been in touch through the years. Finally, we talked about it enough, and I guess Josey is finally in a spot where he's ready to do it. So I was, like, 'Okay, bro. I'm your wingman. Let me know.'" Wayne added that he is "very thankful to Bobby for being so gracious and cool, and actually respectful all these years too, to the songs, to the original deal. It's been great," he said. "But for right now — for the rest of this year and for the foreseeable future of 2020, the lineup as it exists right now with Bobby Amaru, Brad Stewart, Paul Crosby and myself, we'll still be doing some shows and we'll be collaborating and writing some songs. I know Josey's anxious to get in the studio and start putting [songs together]. He said he's got all kinds of ideas. I haven't heard anything, we haven't started on anything yet, but, yes, the clock has started ticking. So, it will happen. It's just gonna be a little bit first." Elaborating on a possible timeline for the SALIVA reunion with Josey, Wayne said: "If and when everything happens with the reunion, that'll kind of make its own course. But I can't quit writing and playing with Bobby too. I'm sure we'll keep doing stuff. "There's nothing on paper. I don't know how long Josey wants to come back — if he wants to come back for good or if it's gonna be a reunion CD and a reunion tour and then he's done. I'm not sure. It's all preliminary and barely been discussed at this point. "As it stands, we will continue to do some shows with the current lineup, and it'll be business as usual for a while. And then, as things start getting closer, we'll probably take a break and set up the reunion thing — who all wants to be involved, who is involved. Like I said, nothing is really on paper now. But Chris [D'Abaldo, former SALIVA rhythm guitarist], myself and Josey have spoken. So we'll see who all else wants to do it." For his part, Bobby said that he was "surprised" that SALIVA's reunion with Josey "didn't happen sooner. But at the end of the day, it's been fun, man," he said. "We've had a lot of good shows — we traveled the world, basically. There's a legacy with these songs and with the band from the beginning that has to be respected. It's something that, if they wanna do it, then I think it's great. It's positive — there's nothing negative about it whatsoever." SALIVA released six albums with Scott and tasted platinum success and a Grammy nomination for its first big hit, "Your Disease". Josey told "The Morning Dump" that he wants to get together with SALIVA and "write a badass record" "Now that I'm clean and sober, my mind is clear, and I'm focused like I used to be in my 20s when I wouldn't take 'no' for an answer," he said. "And I went out, and people told me I'd never make it and they told I'd never get a record deal, and I said, 'Fuck you!' and I went and got it anyway — without a high school diploma. I've kind of got that focusness back." He added: "I wanna do something for the fans, because they have been so loyal to us and so amazing through the years. I've heard people on the web sites and on Facebook and everything: 'When is Josey coming back? Can we, please, have Josey back?' And I want to come back and do my thing."
