anyone get it? what a horrible album. easily the worst hagar related release ever. every track sounds like a leftover song from one of sammy's last few albums

Strangely enough, as much I as like Sammy as a vocalist and more-so his time in Van Halen...I do not own a single note of his solo work and never really had the desire too? This new cd from what I've heard, won't alter my desire or lack there-of in the least. My only good memories of his solo work was as a young kid, listening to some of the old-Three Lock Box stuff at the beach-house parties and chasing the girls! The way Sammy intends on life / music.

A preview of what I wrote about this record on Pivotal Rage's best and worst of 2008...

Sammy Hagar – Cosmic Universal Fashion (Loud/Roadrunner Records)
As side from a couple of tracks that were to be used for the Planet US project with Neal Schon, if this album would to be used as a reference for someone that didn’t know what hard rock was they’d vomit. The Beastie Boy’s cover of “Fight For Your Right (To Party)” is dreadful, not to mention the song sounds dated.

WOW...this is bad!
I didn't delve enuff into the new cd (samples) to find that he actually covers this song...WTF?!? He makes the Beastie Boys look like the Beatles here.

my thoughts exactly. the 2 planet us songs (peephole and psycho vertigo) are worth downloading. the beastie boys tune is better when he does it live and sounds like a leftover from the red voodoo album. you have a song "loud" that is pretty good but sounds like its from the 70's and sammy didn't even write it. you have 1 song that sounds like its a leftover from livin it up. 1 track a leftover from marching to mars. 1 track a leftover from NOT4SALE and 1 track a leftover from ten13. why on a 10 song album do we have a live acustic version of "dreamms/cabo wabo"?

i'm thinking maybe the label signed hagar for the chickenfoot project ad when that album was completed this year the record company asked if sammy could come up with a solo album. maybe it really is a bunch of leftover tracks

thats a shame because everyone of hagar's solo albums up until this release are really good. the best ones being standing hampton, three lock box, marching to mars and NOT4SALE. his 70's stuff has a little too much filler compared to everything he did in the 80's-2003. livin it up (from 2006) is like a jimmy buffet knockoff but its a cool change of pace. the new album though is horrid which means its been almost 7 years since hagar did an album that was good.

Thanks for the rec.s...but its not like I'm completely unfamiliar. I have heard many songs from his solo CD's, liked many of his videos and have listened and tried many samples etc.
Even after doing this, I just never was impressed enough to rush out and get the solo stuff.

I thought this one is a on par with Livin' It Up it's consistently poor...
I think this has more songs that I can stomach actually...
I did like his version of "I Love This Bar."
the only reason i like livin it up more than this album is because at least livin it up has the same feel throughout the entire album. cosmic universal fashion is all over the place. he tried to fit too many styles on 1 album and its not working. sammy still is in fine voice for someone who's 61 now. i don't see how he made a string of such great albums (marching to mars, red voodoo, ten13 and NOT4SALE) and then release this crap. hell in the 80's he had (standing hampton, 3 lock box and VOA)
