THIS WEEK ON YOUR CLASSIC METAL SHOW: Rumor has it that "The Red Rocker", Sammy Hagar, has decided that from here on out he's going to enjoy his life on the beaches in Cabo - just kicking back, drinking Tequila, eyeballing the ladies and enjoying the lazy days that a couple of decades as a solo artist as well as being in Van Halen and Montrose have provided him. With his latest release, LIVIN' IT UP, it appears that Hagar has taken his first step in that direction. Full of mellow summertime fun songs, LIVIN' IT UP is different from anything Sammy has ever done before. We'll do a New Music Listening Party for LIVIN' IT UP, and rumor has it that the "Red Rocker" himself might give us a quick call to talk about the new album, The Other Half, and maybe put an end once and for all to those ever-present Van Halen rumors.
Additionally, a band from the 80s that came and went without a ton of fanfare (but rocked nonetheless) was Shark Island. These guys rocked hard, and were one of those bands that never got popular during their time, but has seen more popularity after the entire scene went away. They have returned, and have a killer new album called GATHERING OF THE FAITHFUL. They have regrouped, put these killer songs together, and now have them out there. We'll do a New Music Listening Party for GATHERING OF THE FAITHFUL, and hopefully will have someone from the band on the show to talk about what brought this project together.
