Sorry, this may have been covered here....but I've not been on this board in a LONG time. Anyway, I'm digging the hell out of the latest Saxon record. I'm a long time fan (since about Power and The Glory - went back and bought everything) and I really think this is one of their best. Anybody else into this record right now?

Agreed. I have read some reviews that said this album was better than the last couple, and in ways it is. But I think, like you, that everything since Solid Ball...has been great. I include in this Heavy Metal Thunder. While re-recording your own stuff is taking a huge chance, I like pretty much every re-make on that album. There was talk of them coming to the states this tour....we'll see. Hope so.

The album simply rules. I wrote a review time ago in this forum, Don't know if is still available somewhere.

Crossing fingers to see them live next year.

I did not realise they had a new album out, guess that shows how out of touch i am. i am a big fan of the power and the glory and the destiny albums. The eagle has landed on the power and the glory album has an almost early progresive rock feel to it. I will have to keep an eye out for lionheart.

Power and the Glory is probably my favorite Saxon CD. I liked Destiny too, a lot (I don't think a lot of people did). Anyway, I think that speaks to how much you might like the new one. The riffs are reeeeeally heavy, but it stays true to the Saxon formula as well. There's an epic or two on there, plus some "redline" type tunes....and just a whole bunch of great stuff. I really can't recomend it highly enough. Easily one of my top 5 of the year. I buy every new Saxon album, and this is (I swear it), probably one of their best 3 or 4 albums. Amazing really, since they've been at it so long. I'm crossing my fingers on an American tour (still).

"Destiny" along with "Rock The Nations" are probabkly the weakest Saxon albums, but even so THEY NEVER SOLD OUT! 25 years on the metal highway and the guys hadn't slip once. I have all their albums and since the first I got on CD ("Solid Ball Of Rock", "Destiny" was my last vinyl) they hadn't back down and relentlesly through line-up changes and stupid legal battles had produced among the best metal albums of the last 15 years.
"Lionheart" is a just a prove that you're never too old to rock'n'roll :headbang:
