Jax, Fl
... and you were starting from scratch. Buying used is something considering as well with styles ranging from pop-rock to metal blah blah.

(profire2626 + octopre if needed to take into consideration)

I'm pretty set on a few 57's + 58's and a beta 52a but otherwise still glazing over at the sea of endless possibilities. and shit.

I can highly recommend you Oktava mk-012 for Overheads, sm57 for toms and snare, Beta 52 for Kick.

And if you got money left go for a Peluso 2247LE for vox, its amazing.

If you go to my webpage you have a couple of songs done by that setup. With an octopre le.

Cheers

Audix d6 for kick.
Senn 421s for toms
Sm7 for vox/hats
Nt5s if on the cheap for ohs or royer 121's or merceneary Km69s or neumann Km184's/84s
Nady/thomann ribbons for room. AAAAnd your set.

I can tell you that from what I own, a D6 and some 421's are a great addition to a mic collection

i spent roughly that, maybe a little less on my mic collection...

audix dp-5a set(d6, 2xd2, d4, i5)
sm57 x2
sm81 x2
rode nt5 x2
rode nt-2A
audio-technica 4033

at no point have i ever encountered a situation where the mics i have on-hand weren't usable for what i was doing...of course i have GAS for more, but don't really NEED them
