Scar Symmetry - The Unseen Empire

this album sucks in comparison to DMD in my ridiculously valid opinion. sounds quality is supreme, but the songwriting has taken a turn for the worst, sounds too much like soilwork for my taste. they used to have epic proggy moments..... :(
+1 but this is only one song, wait for the finished album. I believe, with the pressure of fans, they had to release really good songs so I'm sure there will be some.

I want ghost prototype I, Deviate from the form, stuff like that !

From what I picked up so far this album is amazing, should get my copy in a week or so. I'm in love with Scar Symmetry ever since Holographic Universe, but DMD didn't do it for me. It felt a bit rushed in my opinion, this song though is a major step up from that. Too bad that Christian is not there anymore but I think the current vocalists are very good. Jonas is an awesome musician and producer, and got some serious studio chops. Check out some friends of mine produced by him called The Fading.

I wanna raise this question though - (as I am a musician mostly, not a sound guy): How can you judge quality of a master without referencing with the "pre-master" files? Can you say that this is a good, or a bad master just by just listening to an already finished track?

Very nice album, very good mix and master as always.

I think the vocalist change is not the biggest change of Scar Symmetry, imo they already changed a bunch with the Holographic Universe album.

I checked out the Solution .45 album and I don't think it is as good as any SS album.

I do agree that the two vocalists aren't as awesome as Christian, but still very good.

I don't think Christian wanted to make Solution .45 sound like a SS clone. How can you say it's not as good as any SS album when they aren't SS? They are a different band going for a different sound. Sure it sounds similar, but that's just because anything with Christian on vox will remind us SS fans of older SS albums. I think both bands are great and sound amazing for what they are and not comparing the two.

I talked to Jonas yesterday.

Guitars are same as on Dakmatter

Modded JCM 900

Rhytm guitars:
Modded Marshall JCM 900, Marshall JCM900 cab, 57 straight into cone into Amek purepath-Distressor into Pro-tools (or as he called it originally Fart-Tools...lol)

Leadguitars:
Egnater TOL 50...Same mic cab setup

I am willing to bet that Distressor is what really makes that Scar Symmerty tone pop like it always has. I have never used a Distressor on guitars. I have to try it :)

Just released here in the states today and just picked it up. I'm loving it much more than their last album. Looks like these singers had a bit more time to adjust into the two-vocalist role... it just feels more comfortable. They will never replace Christian, but they do a good job. Production and mix is great too!
