Don't get me wrong, I love Scar Symmetry, but Christian's vocals almost sound TOO polished. In other words, I his vocals are fucking amazing. If he did that 100% naturally, OMG. Do you know if they use any type of pitch shifter/auto pitch thing for his high clean vocals? How common is something like that in Metal?

I don't hear the classic AutoTune monotone-one-copypasted-note-syndrome there, so I don't think they used it. He may be able to pull them off after many many tries (you can see it in their studio videos too), but he has a lot of trouble doing them live (check any youtube video).

weird. I saw them live a year ago and he was fucking perfect... the whole band was. They blew Katatonia right out of the water.

There is a lot of noticeable tuning going on in many songs. It's a mystery to me how people can't hear that.

There is always a difference between seeing a band live and seeing live videos. I've been to so many gigs where I thought "wow, he nailed the vocals", just to see the broadcast on TV later and think "WTF??!".

Not saying the guy in Scar Symmetry isn't a good singer, but they definitely tuned his vox.

I have listened to the songs quite a bit, and it never struck me once that there is autotuning going at all, to be honest.

I saw Scar Symmetry last year and I bet my ass that Christian is using Auto tune on the record, I remember he had trouble nailing the vocals.

cheers

I was severely disappointed by HU in it's original tracklist/progression, but once you do a custom tracklisting for it:

01. Quantumleaper
02. Trapezoid
03. Holographic Universe
04. Prism and Gate
05. The Three-Dimensional Shadow
06. Fear Catalyst
07. Ghost Prototype I
08. Ghost Prototype II

Then the album becomes a lot better and actually a very nice album compared to the previous two.

Theres this megadeth song on united abominations, the obvious autotuning going on is horrendous.

I personally don't get autotune myself. I feel like a lot of times, studios are going to use it, just to polish things that would take forever to perfect. I used it on almost perfect vocals and it sounds pretty obvious, doesnt really blend. But I see a lot of other bands around my scene using it and it actually sounds pretty real. Who knows.

Wow dude, the order tracks are in actually affects how much you enjoy them? o_O I usually listen to albums with the individual songs randomized (unless it's a concept album or where one song flows into another, but sometimes even with those too if I know 'em really well), cuz I feel it keeps it a bit more fresh, though there are certainly many that I like to listen to start to finish as well.

Yeah, I really like albums as an entirety, not a compilation of songs scattered here and there. I always listen to full albums when I listen to music :)
