Scars on Broadway

Blitzkrieg

Master Exploder
Easily my most listened to album of the last few weeks would be the self titled debut from Scars on Broadway, Daron Malakian's post System of a Down project. The sound (I always found his guitar tones to be fairly unique) and catchy as fuck simple songwriting are incredible, and his vocals are strangely really good, which is surprising because they kind of annoyed me when he sang in SOAD. There is talk the band has already broken up, but I hope not as I would love to hear more music in this vein. Awesome stuff.

I took a few minutes' break from listening to FNM and gave those songs a listen. They sound pretty decent. What's with the weird, distracting noises in World Long Gone though?!

I was interested in this when it first came out but couldnt decide between it and Serj's album.
I ended up forgeting about the both.

Had a listen to the songs on MySpace. Not bad. I am keen to check out some "metal/pop" that doesnt take itself too seriously but still has the metal hooks and riffs.

I thought Darron's vocals worked well on the last 2 system albums... but that was probably cause they were harmonized with Serj... dunno how a full album will go.

Is that the same drummer from SOAD?

Yeah same drummer.

I much prefer this album to Serj's, which I wouldn't have expected. Daron is a fantastic songwriter. Listening back to the later SOAD stuff I don't mind his vocals now at all, but they annoyed me at the time.

Anyway, give the whole album a few listens, it's awesome!

I remember complaints about his voice from the later SOAD albums, but can't remember what I thought of it at the time. That being said, I don't find his voice annoying at all in this band. Contrast with Matt Bellamy; if someone told me his voice bugged them, or got annoying after a while I could accept it, even though I like his voice, I see their point. Based on SonB though, I can't particularly find anything annoying about Daron's voice.

I think his screams and stuff in SOAD were often kind of intentionally obnoxious, so it grated on you a little, but in Scars he does an awesome job.

I think Lost In Hollywood is probably the closest SOAD song to a lot of the stuff on this album. Listened to it twice again today. In love.

His vocal parts on BYOB is intentionally annoying I think...
I have gotten used to that part (WHY DO THEY ALWAYS SEND THE POOOOR) but whenever I have that song on someone always tells pet to shut it the fuck up.

Will probably get the album today.

Isnt it Serj that sings the Where the Fuck are you bit?

At the end he does atleast?

Oh hang on... Darron sings the: Blast off, it's party time and we dont live in a fascist nation. Blast off, its party time, and where the fuck are you....Then Serj does the Where the fuck are you

?

Yeah... think about it

The one or 2 songs he sings lead on, on the last couple of SOAD albums I am not a fan of, maybe I should just go get the album and see how it is, it's been pretty cheap at the local JB lately
