Artist: Scott Reeder
Title: TunnelVision Brilliance
Release Date: 2006
Label: Liquor and Poker Music
This is the solo debut from ex-Kyuss bassist Scott Reeder. The album is a far cry from heavy metal but I find qualities to like about it. I first popped this on sitting in a relaxed setting and what I heard was some very well crafted music ranging from many different styles pretty much touching everything except for metal. "Thanks" puts me into the late 1960’s smoking marijuana in the middle of a grassy field with friends while "When?" puts me alone on the beach on a hot summer night lonely and depressed over perhaps losing a girlfriend. Lots of late 60’s stoner/rock influence shines through on this album even noticed a little post surf Beach Boys. The album is overall not quite my cup of tea, not because it is not metal as I like plenty of music ranging outside the metal realm. I do however think it is worth a listen if it crosses your path you definitely may find some enjoyable tracks.
