I finally have taken the step towards being "official." I know am the owner of Sean Smith Media - a company where I offer my services.

So far I've gotten a really bad website (that is a work in progress) and a facebook page. I'd love feedback from you guys, right now it only has links to my artwork and CD reviews. But I do also manage and produce, i'll have production samples soon. I've had some nice clients with design already, I did the logo for 3 Phase Production - which is the tour company that has worked with All That Remains, Trivium, Whitesnake to even Dio (RIP). Anyway, love the feedback!

But I prefer you check out the facebook page until the website is really, launched ha! http://www.facebook.com/pages/Sean-Smith-Media/134845579901293

First of all, congrats for taking the step! Then, on to criticism.

If you're providing graphics design services, the first thing you need to do is get a proper, good-looking website that works and gives a professional impression. Right now your layout is broken (iMac 27", Firefox), your website says "Create a free website with weebly" and has those cheesy visit counters we got used to in the 90's. I'm sorry dude, but the first impression I get from the company is not positive at all. I do realize this is a WIP site, but I hope you get my point.

So: 1) Get a professional web designer to create your website from the artwork and design you provide 2) get a real web hosting plan 3) good luck with the company, and don't hate me for being so brutal on you! ;)

agree with all that FU Guy said ... your best bet is to just have a simple splash page setup saying "website under development" or something similar with just a logo and maybe even a bullshit ETA date for site completion ... to get people checkin back on that day

then invest in your investment .. hire a proper designer. If you like, I can probably hook you up with someone who does this shit for some big companies

Best of luck with it man

No I get it, I'm actually shutting down the site today until I can get a server and a domain. I know webdesign, but due to lack of funds I'm trying to build a site on a stupid free site thing, so my layout is getting broken up and advertisements are distracting from it's professionalism so I get you completely on that.

Thanks man! And yeah I know but at THIS moment - i have 20 dollars in the bank and no real day job (not by choice) ha.

Not to "advertise" but my company offers webhosting for only $4.99 a month as do many other companies. I am sure you can scrape together $5 a month to cover hosting.

As for the design, create something in Photoshop you like, then just image map it for the time being. Its better then the freebie bullshit.

Although the site is currently down, and we are re-designing it. I am trying to stay out of the "design" business nowadays and concentrate just on hosting.

There are a TON of cheap hosting options. Host Gator offers unlimited space and bandwidth for $5 a month too.
