According to a publicist for Mike Patton (pictured), the FAITH NO MORE and DEAD CROSS singer was involved in a "minor accident" last night (August 21) en route to the latter band's concert at El Rey in Los Angeles. As a result of Patton's injuries, Monday night's show and tonight's (August 22) scheduled performance at Echoplex in Los Angeles have been canceled. A decision has yet to be made about the remaining dates on DEAD CROSS's tour, which kicked off on August 10 at The Observatory in Santa Ana, California. In addition to Patton, DEAD CROSS features former SLAYER drummer Dave Lombardo, guitarist Mike Crain and bassist Justin Pearson. DEAD CROSS was on the road supporting its self-titled debut album, which was released on August 4 via Ipecac Recordings. Patton described DEAD CROSS's disc to Rolling Stone as "a traditional hardcore record. It is very pointed, direct and visceral," he said. "Like, I wasn't going to play keyboards, add samples or any kind of orchestration. It was like, 'Yo, just go for it.' In some ways, it reminded me of stuff that we had collectively all grown up with and loved when we were like teenagers — bands like THE ACCÜSED, DEEP WOUND or SIEGE, stuff that was just brutal, uncompromising and right to the point. I was listening to all those bands again before this came to be, so it was already back infused in my blood. And now I got a chance to do a pencil-in-your-eye record."
