As Kolony Records prepares to release SECRETS OF THE SKYs debut, 'To Sail Black Waters' the album set to hit throughout Europe on October 4th and 5th and in North America on October 8th today fans can be engulfed by an audio stream of the entire record.
Bulldozing over doom, death, black, prog and post-metal genre boundaries, the expansive power of 'To Sail Black Waters' was recorded over an eight month period of recording sessions at Trident Studios with engineer/producer Juan Urteaga (Testament, Machine Head, Cattle Decapitation). Today, alongside a new interview with the band, Decibel Magazine is hosting an exclusive stream of the entire 'To Sail Black Waters' opus, which the magazine crowns in their new print issue with a 9/10 review, stating that the album overflows with that rare quality of sounding familiar while remaining wholly unique. Next week, the Oakland-based act will begin their Western US Autumn tour with prog/dark metal act In The Silence. Kicking off on SECRETS OF THE SKYs home turf Friday, October 4th, the tour will run through the 12th, with the final show taking place in In The Silences hometown of Sacramento on the 12th, include shows with Author and Punisher, Armed For Apocalypse and more.

equal parts Insomnium, The Ocean, Agalloch, Type O Negative, Opeth and something all their own. Its dark, dark stuff with a tinge of progginess that crosses multiple sub-genres and it sounds fantastic. MetalSucks
a strong and superb debut release I was especially impressed with the way the band mixes doom with post metal and something that could be described as progressive rock If anything, this band is expanding the sonic possibilities of doom metal without sacrificing its essential dark nature. 4.5/5″ Sea Of Tranquility
Doom metal in general is a tricky field to hoe. There are a lot of different ways that a band can take this style of music and muddy it like a toddler trying to dial a phone and just mashing the keypad until someone finally picks up. Secrets Of The Sky though are quickly becoming masters of taking so many different elements and styles and weaving them into this unique tapestry of sounds and aural experiences. Metal Insider
