Casper of Silver Tiger Media recently conducted an interview with SEPULTURA guitarist Andreas Kisser. You can now listen to the chat below. Asked if SEPULTURA's latest album, 2017's "Machine Messiah", has been a "game changer" for the band, Kisser responded: "Most definitely. It's an album that it feels [like] it's opening a new cycle of our career. "We did the 2014 and 2015 tour celebrating the 30 years SEPULTURA, still at the end of [the band's 2013 album] '[The] Mediator [Between Head And Hands Must Be The Heart]' — between 'Mediator' and the 30-year celebration," he continued. "And it felt with that tour [like] we were closing a big volume with many chapters of our career — the chapters being the albums and all the changes inside and outside the band. 30 years went by and 'Machine Messiah' represents the future of SEPULTURA. It opened a lot of new possibilities to our music. Working with Jens Bogren, he's a fantastic producer who understands SEPULTURA's history and where we are now and how we wanted to sound. He brought that beautiful sound that we all hear on 'Machine Messiah'. It's something that, like I said, it opened so many new possibilities for SEPULTURA. We don't even know what we're gonna do on the next album, but we have so many new possibilities. I think we're still very fresh on 'Machine Messiah' and stuff, but ideas are always [being collected]. I'm writing music all the time, regardless of [whether it's] for SEPULTURA or DE LA TIERRA or any other project I have. But it's great, you know, because 'Machine Messiah' really showed that SEPULTURA can really grow as musicians. Of course, Eloy Casagrande [is now] in the band — this is the second album we do together — he's an amazing, fantastic drummer, a fantastic musician who brought these other new possibilities on drums and how I write my riffs. And live now, it's such new elements that we're bringing, and we're learning how to deal with those elements, and it feels very fresh. It doesn't feel like [the band is] 32 years old; it feels very now, very young. It's great." "Machine Messiah" was released in January 2017 via Nuclear Blast. The disc was recorded at Fascination Street Studios in Örebro, Sweden. The CD's cover artwork was created by Filipino artist Camille Della Rosa. SEPULTURA will embark on an extensive European headline tour in February. German technical death metal masters OBSCURA are confirmed as direct support, followed by U.S.-based death/black metallers GOATWHORE and New Jersey's finest deathcore outfit FIT FOR AN AUTOPSY.
