How do you achieve this kind of vocal at around the 3 min mark? Is there more to it than multi-tracking?

There's a delay on the low growls in the centre, which sounds like it pulls to the left slightly. Other than that I don't think it's even multi-tracked. There's always a chance with things like this that it's been pitch-shifted slightly, but it's almost impossible to know for sure without hearing the guy live.

Haha I just listened to Angels of distress yesterday while sleeping. Amazing album.

I don't know for Illusion but vocals on AOD are surely multitracked. It sounds a lot when I accidently recorded growls over another growls track, and thought it sounded amazing because they were not totally on the same pitch.

i keep thinking there has to be pitch shifting going on at least its more noticible on angels of distress.

The more I listen to Shape of Despair now the more I believe it is all in his growling talents with reverb and delay mixed in.

Thanks for contributing an answer Egan, my band and I really are inspired by Daylight Dies. Keep the Doom flame alive and spreading in the USA.
