Billy Corgan, the frontman of two-time Grammy® Award-winning rock band, The Smashing Pumpkins, recently launched his new podcast, “The Magnificent Others”, via Bill Maher’s Club Random Studios.
In the new episode, Corgan sits down with the iconic Sharon Osbourne – manager extraordinaire, TV personality, and the formidable force behind Ozzy Osbourne’s enduring career.
People.com reports that in the episode, Sharon reveals that she didn’t let Ozzy audition for Pirates Of The Caribbean.
“Do you want to know the biggest mistake I ever made with Ozzy?” Sharon asked Corgan. “He got offered to go and read for Pirates Of The Caribbean, and I’ve never said this to anyone, and I said no.”
“Now wouldn’t he have been perfect?” Sharon continued, and Corgan agreed. “He would have been perfect! Maybe it’s not too late, but God bless.”
“Because when Johnny [Depp] wanted Keith [Richards] to be a pirate, you remember?” Sharon added, alluding to another rock legend appearing in Pirates Of The Caribbean: At World’s End and Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides as Captain Teague.
Elsewhere in the new episode, Sharon opens up about her incredible life in show business, starting with childhood memories of her father, notorious music impresario Don Arden, and all the mischief and magic that came with growing up around rock legends like Gene Vincent, Little Richard, and the Small Faces. Billy and Sharon also dive deep into the early days of Black Sabbath: from Ozzy’s first London gigs and sweaty club shows to the challenges and triumphs that reshaped heavy metal forever.
From the business battles that tested Sharon’s mettle, to the behind-the-scenes stories of how she helped Ozzy break away from an impossible contract to forge one of the most successful solo careers in rock, they cover near-disasters and triumphant comebacks, all fuelled by Sharon’s fearless determination and her unwavering belief in the power of music.
