Apparently, someone started a rather malicious rumor (huge understatement), that Metallica's frontman, James Hetfield, had taken his own life with an overdose of pills. It seems that several news agencies ran with the rumor without checking, prompting the official site to issue a statement to shot down it down.

Sometimes I wish for natural selection to weed out the idiots starting this crap.

Keyser, do you have a link to this? I'd like to see what they were saying. That's lame. I wish for nature's weeding of the gene pool on a regular basis, especially with people who like to just stir shit up with bullshit like this, and rapists, murderers, spousal and child abusers, etc. etc. etc.

Contrary to what you may have read on message boards or heard from news agencies, James Hetfield is alive and doing extremely well. Thank you for everyone's concern.

And me and alot of people on their boards were confused cos we hadn't a clue what they were on about. When someone posted a link to it I was so shocked!!! I'm so glad that I never read that rumour before the official statement cos I would have been in hysterics otherwise - James is my hero and has been ever since I got into Metallica.

Someone, somewhere has got a very sick sense of humour.
