Silvertide - American Excess
J Records - 2002
By Mark Bridgeman
Silvertide offer up Black Crows-esque traditional, sweaty, hook-laden rock'n'roll - and on this 3-song EP they show they can do it well.
Vocalist Walt Lafty has the classic rock vocal twang down patt, and guitarists Nick Perri and Mark Melchihorre shower the solid rhythms with their fine playing. The group's rounded out by bassist Brian Weaver, and drummer Kevin Frank whose open-hatted playing adds a cool rock-swing element to the proceedings.
It's not original. It's not groundbreaking. It's fucking rock'n'roll, friends. This is music to jump around, dance, and sway yo' bad self to while trying not to spill your pint. 3 songs of adrenal pleasure. Fuck yea-yah!
