On May 24, SKID ROW members Dave "Snake" Sabo (guitar), Rachel Bolan (bass) and Johnny Solinger (vocals) were interviewed on KTXD TV's "The Broadcast" show in Dallas, Texas. Speaking about SKID ROW's longeveity, Sabo said: "I think the most remarkable thing is that we're still afforded the opportunity to do this for a living, the fact that we get to go up there and play music every night. It's the most amazing thing. I think people in other bands and other artists take that for granted after awhile, and I think it means more to us now than maybe it ever has." He continued: "This whole last two years, I think, have been
there's been a lot of self-realization within the band about how lucky we are and how fortunate we are to have the other four guys around us and the people on our crew and the people in our lives. It's more so about being happy more so now than it ever was." Solinger talked about whether there are certain tracks in SKID ROW's set that the band has to perform at each concert. "We've got a whole bunch of those songs, actually," he laughed. "What is it, the 'Big Five' or the 'Big Seven' that we play every single
? From my audition in early 2000 to last night in Rocklahoma, I've sang 'I Remember You', 'Piece Of Me', '18 And Life', 'Youth Gone Wild', 'Slave To The Grind' and 'Monkey Business'. [That's] six [songs]. I never get tired of playing 'em, even though I've been doing it for 14 years, and by the looks on [the other guys'] faces and by what they give, they don't ever get tired of playing it. We basically surround those songs with
We have so much source material that we can pick from, there's a whole lot of hits on all of the records, so
we're very, very blessed to be able to do that. The newest song that we've added over the last few years is 'In A Darkened Room', and I really love performing that one; it's from the heart. But the whole set is crazy cool every night, and you never know what you're gonna get; we change it up constantly. I think the last setlist I saw, it said 'Setlist #7.' So there's six other ones with different orders and different songs. When you have that much source material, it's great to be able to pull and throw whatever you want in the set for that particular night." SKID ROW will release a new seven-song EP, "Rise Of The Damnation Army - United World Rebellion: Chapter Two", on August 5 via Megaforce Records. The CD will contain covers of QUEEN and AEROSMITH classics as bonus tracks. Asked about the main differences are between last year's "United World Rebellion: Chapter One" EP and "Rise Of The Damnation Army - United World Rebellion: Chapter Two", Rachel told Finland's Kaaos TV: "Well, there's not many differences except in the recording process. We recorded in a few different places with the first EP, where we recorded the whole thing in the same studio with the second. But we took the same approach to writing and recording. The writing for the first one, I'd say, we labored a little more, because we were trying to go back to our roots, and I know that's a cliché saying for bands to say, but it was true. And after 25 years, it's really hard harder than you would think to retrace your steps to where you were when you were that 22-year-old kid jamming in front of a mirror and playing your first big gigs or whatever. So we really had to find our roots and rediscover what got us off in the first place, the guys that wrote the first two records, and I think we succeeded in it. That was the biggest difference I think it was a little harder to write the songs [for the first EP] but I think what we came out with, the final product, was well worth it."
