In a recent interview with Upvenue, SKILLET frontman John Cooper revealed that he is a "really big fan" of iconic civil rights activisit Martin Luther King Jr. "And the reason I love Martin Luther King Jr. — well, there's lots of reasons," he said (see video below). "I think the reason that, to me, he's above a lot of other people is that… I put myself back into that time period, imagining that I was African American, which I'm obviously not. I wonder if I would have had the grace to not be violent back. I think that non-violent protest, when you are being so oppressed, is beautiful. I think he was a prophet — I think he was a prophet to his people. So I think that's what I admire the most about him." SKILLET's tenth full-length album, "Victorious", was released on August 2 via Atlantic. In support of "Victorious", SKILLET will headline a tour this August joined by SEVENDUST with special guests POP EVIL and DEVOUR THE DAY. SKILLET has sold more than 12 million albums. The band's past four releases — from 2006's "Comatose" to 2016's "Unleashed" — have been certified at least gold by the Recording Industry Association Of America (RIAA). SKILLET's 2009 album "Awake" has gone double platinum.
