So, which lead guitarist that has seen more than one album do you like the best?

I'm having a very hard time deciding on this one. Skolnick's solo work kicks ass, but James also does some truly stellar general lead work. It's a matter of what mood I'm in, I guess.

It seems everyone has forgotten about Glen. I personally think Glen smoked all of the lead players performance-wise and also played alex's solo's the best.If you got a chance to see Glen play with the boys then you would know what im talking about, and for those of you that didnt you definetly missed out.Maybe find a bootleg or sumtn.Remember Glen was the first replacement for a reason so dont forget!

I honestly see your point , Glenn was mainly a touring guitarist though. That's probably why he's not listed as much more than that. Plus , he didn't create music or solos the way Skolnick or Murphy did. However, I am kind of partial to him too and think you are dead on about him knowing Skolnick's solos to the tee. Everytime I saw him (which was every gig they played in the LA area) , he was dead on the money with Skolnick's solos. Plus he did a kick ass "solo" while the band took a break in the set. I have a few boots with him playing and he was great. He deserves some recognition and I think I just gave it to him now.

BTW

From what I remember reading about him in regards to staying with the band was that he wasn't that good at coming up with new riffs or music , and didn't gel writing-wise with Eric. That's just what I read , maybe DE or TL can clear that part up better than me ...

ya your right there was definetly some writing differences, however its pretty safe to say that eric and chuck write everthing anyways so i guess it really dont matter.Glen is still the best replacement they have had in my opinion.

I assume that this poll is asking who was the better lead guitarist in Testament, in which I vote for Skolnick.

However, if I were to choose who I think is better overall, my vote goes to Murphy. His work in Death, Obituary, Cancer, and Disincarnate is simply brilliant.

you havent heard Forbidden I take it, definetly some brilliant shit! Probably a little more melodic and technical than Death,Obituary, etc definetly better lead players but i still love those bands as well.

I don't know why you would jump to that conclusion. I definitely have heard Forbidden, and have all of their records.
