Just wanted to keep everyone posted in case they dont know. A couple of things happening with Slash.

It was announced by Kerrang Magazine that Slash was going to appear on Ace Frehley's next solo album. He had planned to record a solo album after the third Velvet Revolver album, but after the departure of singer Scott Weiland and time-consuming searches for a new singer for the band, he decided to record a solo album first. On September 30 2008, he began recording demos for the upcoming album. Slash was quoted saying that the work alone in the studio on the solo album is "cathartic", and that he's really enjoying the work alone in the studio. He also said he plans to bring a different singer for each song on the album, (like Tony Iommi did), and that he has a list of guests to appear on the album, and most of them are already committed, though he refused to tell who are those guests. Rumored singers for the project include Slash's close friends Lenny Kravitz, Sebastian Bach, Alice Cooper and Vince Neil as well as Izzy and Duff. Rumor is that he's going to use the solo album to try and find a new VR singer.

Geeze, I like Scott Weilands voice and I will always think that Slither was an awesome song, I also didnt find it to be generic rock, love the main riffs and found them different. Their other pop song made me switch channels quick and I have not heard their albums, my music purchases are few and therefore very select... to progressive or catch up on old school stuff I dont have on CD.

Always liked Slash. But Velvet Revolver, is just a generic "rock" band. Slash needs to surround himself with good musicians.

well he was surrounded by good musicians... Duff and Matt. what he needs is fucking Axl and Izzy.

I said "good musicians" and you say, "Duff and Matt" and "Axl and Izzy." Guns and Roses have been dead for years. And with the latest release "Chinese Democracy" there now fuckin' fossils. I think Slash is a good guitar player. I'd like to see him integrate himself with the ilk of musician like example; Frank Marino, Kenny Wayne Shepard, Chris Duarte maybe, Billy Gibbons. Bass players; Otheil Burbridge, Mark Bodossian and Stu Hamm. Drummers; Jaimoe, Butch Trucks etc etc. Remember, these are musicians that popped into my head at this moment. They all come from different backgrounds and genres. Thoth, I respect your opinion, I would like to see Slash go forward, not backwards.

the thing is he'll never get past the shadow of GNR. face it virtually the only reason people would buy his new stuff is because he was in GNR.

Slash needs to surround himself with mediocre musicians so he might appear to be better than he actually is.

I guess your right, Thoth. In my humble mind, it seems to me that a musician would want to go forward and improve skill, in this case, guitar playing. Probably, have to wait and see what Slash decides. I'm not holding my breath, you know.

good points... GnR prime is roughly 20 yrs ago now, not much differnt than expecting Page to suddenly have some revelation

Page and Zeppelin and Slash and Guns n' Roses. Not even remotely a comparison there, man? There's twenty years between each band. Also, Zep were blues/based rock and I consider GnR to be hard/rock metal. Let's not turn this into pointless squabbling. It's just my subjective opinion.

he has improved and branched out... but again the vast majority of people who listened to his other stuff did it because of where he came from (GNR) not because the music itself really warranted it (i mean come on... Snakepit? Velvet Revolver?).

Huh, Im clueless as to the pointlessness of that response ? Comparision ? My point was expecting some new revelation from Slash or anybody whos bands prime was decades ago is a high expectation. Pretty straight up really.

something like that

Well said, VR annoys me. Slash needs to team up with a few good hard rock/blues players and create something original. He also needs to stay away from drug addicts.
