SLAYER Kicks Off North American Tour In Las Vegas; Setlist Revealed

Thrash metal legends SLAYER kicked off their North American tour last night (Friday, October 25) at the The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. SLAYER is performing many of the band's most classic and fan-favorite songs, all of which were originally written and released between the group's inception and the 1990 gold disc "Seasons In The Abyss". SLAYER's "old-school night" set includes tracks from 1983's "Show No Mercy", 1985's "Hell Awaits", the genre-defining and gold-certified "Reign In Blood" (1986), 1988's "South of Heaven", also certified gold, and "Seasons". Angel Of Death "We [were] having such a great time rehearsing this 'old-school' set, we've decided to play it on every one of our upcoming tour dates," announced SLAYER's Kerry King. "We're going to give the fans what amounts to 'decades of aggression,'" added bassist/vocalist Tom Araya. " It's going to be a great night of music and moshing for everyone." SLAYER's five-week North American headline tour — the band's first in two years — features support on all dates from GOJIRA and 4ARM. SLAYER's current touring lineup consists of King, Araya, drummer Paul Bostaph, and guitarist Gary Holt EXODUS), who continues to fill in for the late founding member Jeff Hanneman. Bostaph was SLAYER's drummer from 1992 until 2001 and recorded four albums with the band — the gold-certified "Divine Intervention" (1994), the 1996 punk covers album "Undisputed Attitude", "Diabolus In Musica" (1998), "God Hates Us All" (2001) that received a Grammy nomination for "Best Metal Performance", as well as the DVD "War At The Warfield" (2001), also certified gold. In addition to SLAYER, Bostaph has been a member of FORBIDDEN, EXODUS, SYSTEMATIC and TESTAMENT. Original SLAYER drummer Dave Lombardo sat out the band's Australian tour in February/March due to a contract dispute with the other members of the group. Filling in for him was Jon Dette (TESTAMENT, ANTHRAX).
