Which got you interested in the band initially. The masks or the music?
For me it was the masks. I didnt care for many new bands but these guys have an interesting vibe and a great live show.

when i first read the interviews and how the come across as psychos i was a bit skeptical because everymag was saying how aggessive there new album was,to my surprise i was blown away by the album, the masks is just a bonus really, the music is the main thing

i caught the hype just before they released anything with corey, and i was defo looking out for the guys in the masks, mainly cos i liked the masks...., but i loved the first album, thought it was amazing, then i saw them at brixton supporting that album, and they absolutely destroyed the academy jumping off crazy high speaker stacks, into the crowd, beating the crap out of each other... setting themselves and their drums on fire?!?!, it was mad mad show, the place went nutso

i was sold at that point :)....shame the other albums never lived up to it, they have a couple of good songs on em tho.......and still good live, just not as mental, tho i sppose you cant be like that forever.

When I first saw pictures of them I thought they were a Mr. Bungle Rip off.
Then I read an interview with Mike Patton ( I think it was Metal Edge ) where the guy told Mike Patton about how Cory says he is his biggest influence in music. Mike Patton responded by saying he's not really into Slipknot and that they are capable of much more.
I don't really like them too much either but I have to admit that some of the stuff on thier last album is pretty catchy. But I hate thier early stuff.

I don't care for the band at all, BUT they have a fucking awesome drummer. I'm talking about the real drummer not the idiots who are beating on trash cans and shit.

yeah joey is incredible on drums ....defo up there with the best, damn good guitarist too, its just not fair :)

ole jim and mick are damn handy on guitars too, just cos its detuned and lacking in solos somewhat they can still shred

I seen them first on a shitty tv program in the UK called TFI Friday, and knew they wore masks, but it was the music that done it for me. I heard Wait and Bleed, and that was enough to make me sit up and listen. They recorded a lot of shite as well, but their good songs are awesome.

The music is good but they dont need the masks i mean really what is the point? i've heard that when they arent wearing masks/jumpsuits that they dress really prep like. like they just walked out of the gap or something.

Not my bag baby. I know several of them are into death metal big time, and they can clearly play their instruments. I guess watered down thrash for 13 yr olds pays more though, sadly...

mm intersting, the first metal band i was into was slipknot when i was about 12. I must say it was mixture of the masks, the crazieness and the catchiness of wait and bleed. Ive sinse got into more old skool thrash but i hate it how everyone calls them nu-metal when its pretty far from the truth....seen them 4 times now, pretty good the first 3(amazing actually) but the 4th time they headlined over my all time favourites slayer, and that should be illegal.

Working in a call center for MSN, I was playing them in the background and the caller heard them, he was from Iowa, he dated Corey's sister. Told me one of them was on the golf team in high school, forgot which one. He did say all of them are really down to earth guys. Which is what I've heard from other places too.
