SLIPKNOT frontman Corey Taylor has clarified his recent comments about the widespread availability of guns, saying that he does not have a problem with "responsible gun owners" or the Second Amendment. Last week, Taylor gave an interview to the U.K.'s Independent in which he pushed back against politicians trying to blame music, movies and video games for the recent spate of mass shootings in America, while also deflecting blame from the availability of guns. He said: "Music is an easy target because [people in authority] don't understand it. There's a complete lack of effort to try to understand it, and a lack of willingness to take any portion of the blame for these events." Taylor also cited the rise of hate-filled rhetoric against people of color, immigrants and LGBTQ people before adding: "There are too many fucking guns in America. I could walk outside right now and find a gun within minutes. There's a very toxic gun culture here, it's a cult, and it worries me." After one of Taylor's Twitter followers said that he respected the singer's opinion about the availability of guns but asked Corey to respect his stance as a register owner of two 9mm handguns stored in a safe for protection, the SLIPKNOT frontman responded: "Absolutely man. Thank you for asking that- my problem is NOT with responsible gun owners. My problem is NOT with the 2nd Amendment. My problem is with the ease of availability and the psychosis behind the violence. I grew up around guns. I respect them. Other people do NOT." Taylor told The Pulse Of Radio not long ago that he's long past the point of staying silent about things that bother him. "I guess I've just gotten to the point in my life where I'm just tired of holding back," he said. "After a while, you see all this stuff pile up, if you don't say anything, man, you're just gonna drive your car into a brick wall, you know. You're just gonna lose it one day and they'll find you running down the boardwalk naked. I've just gotten to the point where it's just, like, 'Man, I've got to say something,' just to get it off my own chest." SLIPKNOT's sixth album, "We Are Not Your Kind", was released on Friday (August 9).
