It feels weird...did you mic the guitar and the wall against it or something?

No, it's a poor attempt to emulate Holophonic sound using wave arts panorama plus a convolution reverb but I guess it can't be translated in another listening environment. The guitar should be located to the left but outside of the normal stereo field.
It's not me playing, just a random sample I found on my hd.
Anyway, just toying around.

it definitely doesn't feel like it's in the normal stereo field, it almost feels further left than 100% left, if that makes any sense

Yeap, I know what you mean! It sounds left alright, but listen through headphones, it sounds that it's close to you, like in a binaural recording. how did you record this?
