"Last night you asked me a question about the ideas behind the songs,
and, in discussing "The Non-Terminating Integer," I mentioned Derrida and
the deconstructionist movement, but was not perfectly clear about the
reference and how it relates to the song. The Deconstructionists, with whom Derrida was involved, argued that the meanings of texts, literary and otherwise, are intrinsically ephemeral, and that multiple readings of the same text will result in just as many different meanings. The PI symbol on the page represents a number that never terminates, never resolves, just as Derrida belived language to do. The written word, then, is the 'non-terminating integer.' I'd really appreciate if you added something like that in, if it's not too late already."
