Santa Hat Forever
So this is my main band Ad Intra, the brainchild of my wife and I, on which we've been working on for a long time but had some bad luck with it at the beginning, concerning a revolving door of members, our first big show cancelled more or less at the same time my dad got ill and we ended up having to move to Spain leaving behind our drummer and pretty much starting over from here. So after finding a great guitarist and while still looking for a drummer (which seems like mission fucking impossible in this town) I present to you the promo single "We Aren't Ready To Take Off", which features the title track and as a bonus a special cover of Anathema's "Lost Control".

Download it here: http://adintra.bandcamp.com

and like our facebook page here: http://www.facebook.com/adintra

This recording couldn't have been done without the help of a group of great friends and excellent musicians and engineers mostly from this forum who helped with its realization so it would be unfair not to thank them all here.

On the title track, huge thanks to Kev Parsons for the reamping and Jussi Kulomaa (Vespiz) for producing the keyboard tracks (in other words, reamping the midi files ;-)). This track also features Nelson Castro from the Venezuelan band "Animas" on clean vocals

On Lost Control, Mr Jason "Fat Chick Porn" Constantine (guitarguru77) did a crushing job on reamping the guitars, and the talented and beautiful Chiri from Harpia Deiis (also known as Mago's girlfriend) performed vocals

So I know there are a few Doom guys on this forum, so I hope you like it!

P.S. We are currently recording the full length, which will feature a re-recorded version of this song, this promo single was made to have material to promote here in Europe while we finish the full length (and find a drummer so we can finally play some shows, we're fucking desperate)

Edit: so, what's with all the "so"s?

The vocals sound buried/muddy.

I'm listening on my iMac speakers though.

Maybe it's me but it has this in a box vibe. (literally a cardboard box) Then again, I know shit about "Doom/death" music. (and mixing)

I still love you though. ;)

edit: maybe the word "presence" makes sense here?

"We Aren't Ready To Take Off" is a cool song but needs more keyboard arrangement in my opinion and taste. The song can be improved mix wise because I found guitars are too high in the mix and this is not I like in a doom song. Yeah, although you don't need mix criticism, I think it could end up more crushing with a different mix. Other than that, well done sir.

Lost Control cover is interesting.

Good luck!

I dig the atmosphere, melody and the guitar work. Reminds me of Paradise Lost Shades of God. Which is the last time I bought a doom cd, so I don't really know squat about doom.

The guitars are covering up the vocals a bunch and detracting the impact of the song. Nothing that can't be fixed on the rerecorded full length.

Thanks for sharing your music.

Shut up bitch you don't know nothin' bout doom and listening on laptop speakers while takin' a crap! Hahaha J/k of course, thanks for listening and giving your opinion, and for still loving me, back at you :worship:

P.s. I assume you're speaking about the first song right? cause they both have completely different mixes, and the vocals are much less buried on the second one

Well I don't "Need" criticism cause it's already finished, but I always appreciate it, specially cause this song will be re-recorded along with the full length so it's still time to make lots of changes. When you say more keyboard arrangements do you mean the keyboards should be more present in the mix, or that it could use more actual keyboard parts? Cause I think I would disagree with both haha about the guitars, I kinda like the level of the guitars, but of course it's simply a matter of taste. Thanks for listening! Btw your band is pretty good, keep rocking :headbang: maybe we can share a stage together some day!

You're not the first person to give a Paradise Lost comparison, and honestly we're not big fans of that band specifically so I guess it's coincidence haha Yeah I agree about the vocals, they gave me a lot of trouble and in the end I pretty much ended up giving up on them.

For the keyboards, I mean both. :D At least some supporting harmonies or chords instead of a single note. But yeah. this one comes down to taste. Since it's a finished song and you like it, then no problem. :D

Thanks for the compliment. It would be nice to rock on the same stage. :headbang:
