It got stuck in the basement of the dorm I'm staying in somehow, and some of us went down there to set it free. It was pretty cute, and it screeched just like an adult, but it couldn't even fly and could fit in the palm of your hand.

We put it on the ground outside and it hopped into a bush and started screeching again.

No, we didn't see the mom anywhere, so we were wondering if he would be ok if we just left him outside, plus the chance that our scent might scare away the mother if she did return. But there was really nothing we could do about it, because you can't exactly keep one of those things in a shoe box. I'd be in jail now or something.

you're a slut! that's why???

annnyway, well, human scent on baby birds really doesnt scare off the mom, don't worry. that's some weird wive's tale type thing. but i am sure the mother, if anywhere within 100 feet, could hear her baby crying when he was loose. she probably picked him up. also, female hawks sometimes take care of babies that aren't their own. if he's not still around there, someone's probably hooked him up.
