I think the Beach Boys attitude was lame. That whole fun in the sun bullshit. I can't identify with that whole Cali surfer mindset, so the music always never did anything to be besides offer pretty melodies. I'm sure a lot of it has to do with biases grown in my teenage years, but even when bands I love like Mr Bungle do the surfer rock stuff it still leaves me out in the cold.
 
Are you saying I don't buy albums? I own well over 400 albums, which is more than most people I know. If I like an album enough, I buy it after downloading it. Just a few weeks ago I did that with the new Coheed and Cambria. Hell, of my top albums of the year the only one I don't own is Beloved - Failure On because I have never seen it in a store.
