So I'm trying to convert a Rolling Stones song to a sludge song

It's Gimme Shelter. I'm just fiddling around with the riff a bit and the intro is just great for some alternative metal/sludge/post-rock.

I did a very quick try at the main riff (guitars only, just to give you an idea of what I'm doing):

As far as brooding atmosphere goes, there's always the Sisters Of Mercy version of Gimme Shelter. It's about 25 years old, so don't expect modern production quality, but it might be worth a listen.



Gotta love the stupidly low vocals too.

BTW, what amp did you use on your clip?
