so maybe Nile isn't approrpriate to have playing in my office...

My review of Nile's set the other night:

We retreated to a nearby alcove to converse with BigFakeSmile and that really short guy I always see at Devy shows. The four of us promptly began examining the plethora of fliers at our fingertips to determine which ones would fly the furtherest. Said short gentleman held the record as his paper airplane flew a whopping four inches then went straight down the stairwell. Oh and I think Nile hit things, growled, roared, and hit things rather well. Tough to be positive, honestly.

Remember that when Nile played, I had just seen Suffocation and Deicide kind of making Nile ummm pointless.

Nile isnt anything like Deicide or Suffo, though! Deicide is like the AC/DC of death metal, totally shallow metal that's pretty much just designed to "bang some heads." Suffocation subscribe to the 1000 riffs per song school of thought, with harder to follow songs and such, but yeah. I guess Nile is kinda not-so-great live, due to muddy-as-fuck sound. I think if you're a big fan of what they do, though, and you know every riff they play by heart, seeing them blast through all that stuff is almost a divine spectacle! I hated them the first time I saw them, but was totally awe-struck the next.

Nile was the first band I saw live and I thought they did a very good job of entertaining me. It was very nifty when Karl used his guitars feedback as an instrument of sorts.
